Jabornegg & Pálffy
A monograph about the architects Jabornegg & Pálffy is being published in conjunction with their exhibition Jabornegg & Pálffy – Bauen im Bestand (Jabornegg & Pálffy – Building in Context) in the Munich Pinakothek der Moderne.
The publication documents 14 selected projects – realized buildings as well as competition entries. Among them are the Fridericianum exhibition rooms at the Dokumenta X in Kassel, the Generali Foundation, the Museum am Judenplatz and the Schoellerbank in Vienna, the SLSP New Office Building in Bratislava and the competition entry for the expansion of the Städel Museum in Frankfurt/Main. The roofing of the Passionsspielhaus in Oberammergau and Stift Altenburg are addressed as well as the annex and conversion of Schloss Esterhazy Museum in Eisenstadt.
Independent of format, it is precision in relation to content, architectonic form and its materiality that is the determining reference for essential statements in Jabornegg & Pálffy works.
This provides a basis for the condensation of programme, spatial quality and constructive logic in an architectonic language which is being consistently implemented in completely different tasks. It is irrelevant whether it concerns work in a historical context, the development of new construction forms or questions of perception. The result is always convincing because of the clear language of form together with the highly specific solutions, which are the hallmarks of Jabornegg & Pálffy architecture.
