I Tempi Doppi
The Italian artist Tatiana Trouvé based in Paris, who exhibited at the 2002 Venice Biennale and at the Palais de Tokyo, is currently being celebrated by a major, three-institution solo retrospective. This catalog, the first comprehensive publication on her work, reproduces many of her installations and large-format drawings ahead of her first major US exhibition with Gagosian Gallery in New York later this year. Trouvé’s minimalist style is influenced by her childhood spent in Africa. Her combination of metals, stones and glass with soil and water evokes memories and striking bodily associations. Room-sized installations draw the visitor, both concretely and corporeally, into imaginatively charged spaces suspended between lightness and monumentality, fiction and the everyday. Three sizeable essays and four interviews with Stefan Gronert, Barbara Hess, Robert Storr and others reveal the diverse interests and approaches of this artist on the rise.
