The Black Angel’s Dead Song

Bright, kaleidoscopic dream worlds are at the heart of Berlin-based artist Peter Pommerer’s work, and The Black Angel’s Dead Song is no exception. A catalogue from his 2008 exhibition at The Vangi Sculpture Garden Museum in Mishima, Japan, this book features three sections: “The Prologue,” “The Angel’s Dream,” and “The Explosion.” The 98 colored-pencil drawings are accompanied by a running narrative of captions written by the artist, creating something of a graphic novel. Pommerer is hailed for his brimming vitality and his ability to celebrate the early artistic experiences of childhood in vivid colors and bold strokes.
