Wishing to come as close as possible to Jesus as a philosopher and human being, Thomas Jefferson began to revise and edit the four Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John into one during his presidency. Biblical scholars have established that Jefferson’s revised edition is one of the closest interpretations to the original Gospels, excluding the many passages added over time by priests and sectarian scribes.
