Surface to Air

Notorious for their fashion week parties (often shut-down by the cops) and a design language to match, Surface To Air has risen to the edge of the cutting edge. Surface To Air’s designs have made their way onto their signature clothing collection, magazine editorials, and most recently the forward thinking Nike Conceptual Space in New York’s SoHo district. Known for their militaristic aesthetic, Surface To Air’s imagery is a reductive reflection of current affairs. Their scattered and collaged look melds esoteric pop culture references with blatant criticism of authorities. Their product and furniture designs are crude, and their motion graphics ooze with bad-mannered aesthetics aggressively revolting against normalcy. The seven member art collective is an anarchical group of young males, four hailing from the US, two from France, and one calling from Argentina. Their look is an anarchical globalism poised on the chaotic nature of contemporary visual culture.
