Over a period of several years, Dutch photographer and graphic designer Anoushka van Velzen visited a series of places in Europe where devout believers have had visions of the Virgin Mary: Lourdes, Fatima, Barcelona, Amsterdam and Cough Patrick. Tools of Belief is a moving and profound selection of 135 lush, socio-documentary images of these holy places, places where miracles happen, where the desperate go to be healed and the zealous go to reinforce their beliefs.
