Anouhka Van Velzen
Tools of Belief
Over a period of several years, Dutch photographer and graphic designer Anoushka van Velzen visited a series of places in Europe where devout believers have had visions of the Virgin Mary: Lourdes, Fatima, Barcelona, Amsterdam and Cough Patrick. Tools of Belief is a moving and profound selection of 135 lush, socio-documentary images of these holy places, places where miracles happen, where the desperate go to be healed and the zealous go to reinforce their beliefs. With an introduction by art historian-clergyman Reverend Dr. Antoine Bodar.
